__As a painter and printmaker I come from a background of graphic design. I try to use the different techniques of these media to enhance my imagery.
My work is related to the landscape, my passion is dense woodland and forests and rock formations washed by the sea. My link with woodlands and forests comes from having grown up in the countryside. I spent school holidays observing the wonders of nature while watching the way the flora and fauna changed from one day to the next.
I use colour, tactile marks and patterns in my work to explore the relationship between the emotion of human experience and the environmental elements. I try to express these changing emotions of the human experience using the imagery of rhythms and movements in nature. It is this changing growth and the evolution of plants that fascinates me together with the way light falls on their structures and distorts their forms. In painting I use layers of colour to create different light combinations.I hope this induces depth and a distortion to the image on the canvas.
